Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, which is all around us.

What is Reiki? Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui. Dr Usui was a teacher of Christian theology who rediscovered Reiki in the mid 1800s. He founded a healing system in ancient Buddhist writing and spent the later part of his life applying and teaching this knowledge. It is used world wide and because of its effectiveness is very popular.

How does the treatment work? It is a holistic therapy, used to improve health by balancing the bodies energy system. It helps to clear blockages in the person's energy field. this then helps the body heal itself. The practitioner using her hands channels universal energy to harmonise the body, mind and spirit of the patient. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

What does the treatment involve? The Reiki treatment from a Practitioner is very simple and non intrusive.

The fully clothed patient lies relaxed on a couch or sits in the chair. The Practitioner gently places her hands in a sequence of positions on the patient. A full treatment usually takes about 30minutes.

Will I feel anything during the treatment? Most patients feel a warm sensation and others are so relaxed they fall asleep. Some patients feel their muscles twitch and others if they have a headache will feel it go away.

Which conditions can be helped with Reiki? You do not have to be ill to experience Reiki.

Some members of the therapy Centre have enjoyed frequent treatments others come occasionally just to boost their energy or charge their batteries! Skeletal injuries respond well. If you are feeling tense, depressed, tired or in pain, Reiki can be useful.

Healing can take place at different levels: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly but more chronic illness take longer.
